Candid Conversations: Climate Change & the Gulf Oil Spill
On August 6th, 2010, Aquariums and Climate hosted the first in a series of online "Candid Conversations." The event was focused on communicating the connections between the recent Gulf oil spill and climate change. You can watch and listen to a recording of the event above.
Three panelists from the Aquariums and Climate community, each representing different regional viewpoints, participated as panelists for the event. Tara Treiber from Heal the Bay's Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, Debbi Stone
from the Florida Aquarium, and Billy Spitzer from the New England Aquarium were also joined by moderator Tom Bowman from Bowman Global Change for the 90 minute discussion.
In the coming days, a series of follow-up posts from each of the panelists will be posted to the website. Tara, Debbi, and Billy will each offer some additional responses to questions that they were not able to get to during the event, as well as provide some closing thoughts on what we have learned from the Gulf oil spill as it pertains to our changing climate and its impact on the ocean.
Please stay tuned for information about future "Candid Conversations" here at Aquariums and Climate.
